The Coronavirus and Botanica – 20 March 2020

Green Bin Organic Waste at Botanica
Collection of Green Bin organic waste in our low-rise buildings will begin by 30th of January and will be every Thursday thereafter. If you have requested a kitchen bin, it will be delivered to you the week of 20th of January.The green bins will be situated beside the blue and black recycling bins in the upper garage.

Botanica Green Bin Programme Information Session
Green bin use significantly reduces waste in our already taxed landfills. According to the City of Ottawa’s website, the Ontario Government is aiming at “a multi-residential waste diversion target for organics of 50% by 2025. […] The green bin program is already active, with nearly 500 multi-residential properties in Ottawa participating,” which is about 27% of all such properties. The Summershade Townhouse residents have been following the Green Bin programme for a few years. A new initiative for the Botanica mid-rise condo complex is to introduce green bins to residents and owners.
To learn how the green bin programme will function at Botanica, Kyle Brydges, a City of Ottawa waste inspector, has been invited to provide us with all the information needed to participate and why it is important to do so.
